Bamboozled by all those acronyms? …….. ARLA, AST, NAEA, SDLT, HMRC?!?!
Landlords seem to be at the raw end of the new legislation train in recent years and with more and more things to think about before deciding if being a Landlord is for you, it’s no wonder so many are actively seeking out a qualified ARLA Propertymark agent to look after their assets and ensure they in turn look after their tenants.
I’m sure some Landlords steer clear of lettings agents purely because we seem to speak in tongues! What’s an ARLA when it’s a home? How can I tell if my GSC is ripe? Why is that the same as a CP12?! Do I have any spare AST’s in the car? (OK that one was a stretch.. sorry). But you can see my point.
Not to mention all the tax stuff which seems to be further confused by the impending election and those delightful manifesto’s we now need to read thoroughly to check we’re putting an X in the right box. Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT), Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT), Restriction of Allowable Costs, Changes to Wear and Tear Allowance and Capital Gains Tax……. It’s a confusing sea of information out there!
